Maddie MacFarlane is a first year graduate student at St. Cloud State University studying Sports Management. Maddie is working as a graduate assistant for the campus radio station, KVSC 88.1 FM, as the Director of Social Media, Design, and Public Relations. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Photojournalism and a minor in Graphic Design in May 2017 from SCSU. During her time as an undergrad she worked for the university newspaper as well as the athletics department focusing on sports photography, specifically coverage of the school’s men’s and women’s D1 ice hockey programs.
After graduating with her Master’s Degree from St. Cloud State, she hopes to continue pursuing her career in professional hockey as a reporter, photographer, and digital media coordinator.
Maddie grew up in southwestern Wisconsin with her parents, Robin and Jeff MacFarlane and her older brother Maxwell. Robin is a successful dog trainer and owner of her own company, That’s My Dog! Inc. Growing up, Maddie had the opportunity to travel all over the U.S. as well as Canada and Greece along side her mom, helping as a training assistant. Jeff MacFarlane is the Executive Director of the Dubuque Colts Drum & Bugle Corps. A graphic designer himself, Jeff often supports his daughter in creative projects; he also actively shares her passion for the sport of hockey. Max has resided in Colorado since 2011.
Outside of hockey, Maddie enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, kayaking, and many other outdoor activities. When possible she travels back to her hometown of Dubuque to visit family and friends.
The paw print logo comes from my dog Hero who passed away in June 2014. After 13 years of him standing by my side, I pay tribute to a girl’s best friend.
